Holiday cooking is the perfect time to be stocked up on Māla Girl...especially our Soulfull Classic. Whether you are vegan or looking for a "real" chicken base, Soulfull Classic delivers! "Tastes like chicken noodle soup!" is what we often here, but what sets Māla Girl apart are the sourced ingredients used to create this flavor.
You won't find "palm oil", "added flavor and color", "corn syrup solids", what you will find is "cacao butter, onion, garlic, celery, Himalayan sea salt, dulse, turmeric, ginger, nutritional yeast, lemon, parsley, chives, pepper. The secret to the win of this stuffing is poultry seasoning..that's it! If you've never had it, we highly recommend you get a small organic container and your local market. There's no added sodium and its simply ground savory herbs of; rosemary, thyme, sage and marjoram. Mixed with soulfull classic, it will be your new "turkey broth". Gobble up!
On The Side
Mixing soulfull classic with poultry seasoning, makes a homemade stuffing so incredibly simple to prepare, you'll never want to go to store bought again! You may even fool the traditional turkey eater...actually we almost guarantee it!
6 cups bread, diced into 1-2" cubes (we used 2 day old Italian bread)
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tsp.organic poultry seasoning
1/2 cup celery, small dice
1/2 cup onions, small dice
1/4 tsp. sparkle salt
3 cups hot water
2 Tbsp. Soulfull Classic
1/2 stick butter, cut into cubes (vegan or regular works)
Preheat oven to 350F.
Dice bread, onions and celery and place in a mixing bowl.
Toss together with olive oil, poultry seasoning and sparkle salt and lay out on baking sheet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until bread is toasting.
While bread cubes are toasting, heat 3 cups of water and whisk in 2 Tbsp. of soulfull classic.
Pour toasted bread, celery and onions into a 6"x9" casserole dish.
Pour hot soulfull classic broth over bread.
Stir to evenly combine and soak bread. (yes there will be a bit of liquid in the bottom)
Cover with foil and place back in oven for 20 minutes.
Remove foil and cook an additional 10 minutes for a toasty stuffing.
Stuffing is now officially ready when you are!
We grew up making our own stuffing for thanksgiving, and this recipe was adapted from that. Traveling through the years to other homes, stuffing or "dressing" definitely varies by family. Anything from cornbread, oysters, to gizzards, or mushrooms seem to top the list. Why am I telling you that...quite simply to let you know you can still add in what works for you. Plant based but used to have sausage in it? Simple enough, add in a vegan crumbled sausage into this or make your own! Either way, enjoy this and all of the comfort it brings to your table!
